Donations to Friends of the Community Path

The Friends donate labor & love towards the path. Donations of money help demonstrate to politicians our level of community support. The funds also help pay for supplies. The bulk of the money collected will be donated to the city for use as grant matching funds (every dollar you donate can turn in five dollars, or more, with grants). Donate online with a credit card or check. If you require deposit in a tax deductible account, please mail your check and mark it so. Large or small, online or mailed, every donation helps. Thank you.

We All Need This Path

The success of the Minuteman Trail/ Linear Park shows how we all treasure a quiet, safe, green path. This Community Path will:

  • Link the Minuteman/Linear Park Trail, via East Somerville, to the Lechmere T and the Charles River Trail.
  • Provide a direct, mostly off-road commuting route between downtown Boston and communities to the north.
  • Create more usable and greatly needed open space in Somerville.
  • Be loved by walkers, runners, cyclists, skaters, people in wheelchairs, gardeners, young people and old.
  • Boost local business and tourism.
  • Create a haven from the noise, traffic, hassles, and pollution of the "Big Dig" - at a comparably trivial cost.
  • Extend the phenomenal success of the Minuteman Bikeway/Linear Park by linking 40+ miles of paths through Bedford, Lexington, Arlington, and Cambridge, East and West Somerville, Boston, Watertown, and Waltham.

Is it worth a few dollars to make it happen? Make a donation with Pay Pal:

Our 501(c)3 partner for tax deductable contributions is Groundwork Somerville. 5% of your donation goes toward Groundwork, which uses the money for gardening and planting efforts along the existing path. The rest of the donation (with no overhead taken out) goes directly to the path building effort.

The Friends of the Community Path wish to thank the O2 Yoga Studio in Somerville for their generous donation of $311.00 from their February 24 class and potluck. We especially thank O2 Yoga’s Janet Thompson for donating her teaching proceeds, Mara Pike for her organizing efforts, and owner Mimi Loreriero for her endorsement of community involvement.
